Hi HONOR Community!
I switched to an HONOR 9X PRO just over a month ago, after getting it as a birthday present from my brother who works in tech…and the phone is now my favourite brother!
The 6.59-inch bezel-less screen is sleek and expansive. The absence of any notch on the display, thanks to the ingenious pop-up camera design, appeals to my inner perfectionist.
The pop-up mechanism may sound a little dubious. It's hard not to think that it would be vulnerable if the phone were to slip out of your hand when taking a selfie, or would pop out randomly on occasion. But actually, I far underestimated HONOR's designers here. They were one step ahead, in fashioning a smart protection feature that automatically retracts the camera when it detects that the phone is in free fall.
When light reflects off the back cover of the phone, it reveals the gorgeously-rendered X-shaped patterns, which can be endlessly mesmerizing.
The rear camera incorporates three lenses: a 48 MP super-resolution lens, an 8 MP wide angle lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor.
The powerful 48 MP mode, which can be found in the camera settings, reproduces detail with piercing sharpness, as in the image below, which is a whopping 15 MB in size!
I cropped the image, and it still looks as sharp as if it were directly shot with the camera. The next time that you're absorbed in the beauty of your surroundings, and aren't sure which part of the scene is most spectacular, just take a 48 MP picture to capture everything, and crop the image to your heart's content!
The HONOR 9X PRO's camera is also exceptional in low light conditions. The picture below was taken in a rather dark environment, yet in spite of this, the image is almost clearer than that which I saw my own eyes! I should also mention that the picture was taken behind a thick sheet of glass, which makes the imaging quality all the more incredible.
The wide angle lens works flawlessly in low light, too. After switching to wide angle mode, you'll notice that I captured more within the frame, without having to step back or compromise the quality of the picture.
I'd long heard of the Super night mode on the more expensive HONOR models, and it's wonderful to see it on my HONOR 9X PRO. I'll definitely be sure to take advantage of it, by prowling around my hometown after dark.
The fingerprint sensor is installed on the right side of the phone, just below the power button. It took me a few days to get accustomed to this design, but now I've come to appreciate how much more practical it is than the in-screen unlocking method. It's way more accurate, and super-fast as well. By default, the screen unlocks as soon as your finger touches the sensor, but if this is too responsive for your tastes, you can also set it to press-activated unlocking.
The HONOR 9X PRO packs a 4,000 mAh battery, which has no issue getting me through the day. I almost always have at least 20% power remaining when I come home in the evening.
In terms of the operating system, the phone runs EMUI 9.1.1, which is based on Android 9 Pie. Full-screen gestures are available for navigating on the phone, which allows me to make the most of the borderless display.
The HONOR 9X PRO is powered by Huawei's proprietary 7 nm Kirin 810 SoC, providing for great performance and energy efficiency, along with an abundant 8 GB of short-term storage. Exclusive GPU Turbo 3.0 graphics technology delivers lag-free gaming.
The HONOR 9X PRO is quick to charm with its bezel-less design and flashy cover, but is so much more than meets the eye. It feels amazing in the hand, runs any app or game fluidly, and takes excellent pictures in every conceivable setting. It's a great life companion, and a constant reminder of how awesome my brother is!
I am a big fan! Who is has a HONOR 9X PRO already and what do you think of it? And, who else is looking forward to getting their hands on one?
