我的荣耀 开启荣耀之旅
On the surface Among Us, appears to be a simple game online game with basic graphics and gameplay , but if you want to know what all the buzz is about, read on! I might be a tad late to party here, but I just downloaded Among Us today! After seeing a ton of memes of the simple little spacemen doing the rounds and not understanding what was going on, I finally bit the bullet. I downloaded it from the Play store but I hope it comes to the AppGallery sooon, I added it to my wishlist anyway. Any game that has teamwork and deception in the description will catch my eye...
Premise:
You are a spacecrew speeding through the cosmos, going about your regular tasks, when all of a sudden things start taking a turn for the worse. Things on the ship keep malfunctioning, and one by one the crew members are being killed! Yes...someone among us is...an impostor! The Crew either has to find out and vote off the impostor, or complete all their tasks to win. The Impostor, meanwhile, is trying to remain undiscovered, faking completing tasks, causing distractions, and preying upon other crew members when the time is right.
Basically it's like those Mafia games you might have played as a kid, where one person is secretly chosen as the bad guy, and they have to pretend they are innocent, getting people on their side, while accusing others....or you can just stay suspiciously silent. Up to you!
Gameplay:
The Crew of good guys can be from 4 to 10 players. I had more fun with more players. When you are part of the Crew you are given a list of tasks that are basically like mini games around the ship. Every time a new victim is discovered, a meeting is called. Here you can discuss who you think the impostor is, and vote off who you think it is. Being the Impostor is a bit more fun in my opinion, with bigger adrenaline rushes, and more fun to be had in the meetings. You can also cause things on the ship to malfunction to cause a distraction, and use secret tunnels. Diabolical!
The controls are extremely simple: you move with a joystick in he corner and tap the screen to complete tasks and communicate.
Graphics:
Despite their simplicity, I really like the graphics in Among Us - they remind me of the old flash games I use to play online as a teenager. An added benefit is that it will run pretty smoothly on any device certainly it was completely smooth on my HONOR 9X. The game mechanics are what really make this game so enjoyable, and if the graphics were overly complicated it might detract from the interactions and human element that make the game so unique. You can customise your character, but the customisations are comedically simple. Players are usually still identified in the chats by the colour of their suit.
Because of this, each game is exciting. The tasks remain the same (though they can be customised if desired), but the players and motives in each game are fresh and new.
Sometimes things go well and the entire crew survives...
...and sometimes you are the Impostor who gets discovered and ejected from the ship.
Is it worth the hype?
Overall, I now get what all the hype surrounding it is about. Among Us is a stripped back multiplayer game, that is uses the complexity of human behaviour in the real world to create a cunning and addictive experience that stands out among the more premium looking shoot 'em ups, racers and RPGs that surround it. I would definitely say it's worth downloading.
Have you played Among Us yet or are you thinking of giving it a try? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
