The HONOR MagicWatch 2 comes in a blue packaging box that instantly marks it as an HONOR device. The 46 mm black sports edition is propped up gracefully in the box, and looks trendy and dynamic when wrapped around my wrist.
The 1.39-inch round AMOLED screen, 454 x 454 in resolution, 326 pixels per inch, furnishes textured and sharp visuals in full-blown colors. Screen brightness that soars as high as 800 nits, guarantees that I can continue to interact with the watch even in direct sunlight that would render other displays illegible.
The watch face itself (excluding straps) weighs only 41 grams, and measures 10.7 mm at its thinnest. Interlocking metal and plastic complements provides for a pleasing texture, without the slightest compromise in durability. The metallic ring creates the appearance of a high-end watch, feels smooth, and is scratch-resistant.
The plastic back is skin-soothing, and the fluoro rubber straps are supple and sweat-resistant. So even intensive workouts and long swims are carefree and free of irritation. If I need to attend a formal event, and want to check the time without constantly glancing at my phone, I'll replace the plastic straps with leather straps, without missing a beat.
That's right, the straps are easy to remove, so that I can easily mix and match to my heart's content.
The power and function buttons to the right of the watch face, offer seamless navigation on the device. Long presses, short presses, and double clicks lead to different operations, unlocking new features that I'd hardly thought possible, literally accessible at my fingerprints.
Refreshingly Diverse Customized Settings
I'm also offered dozens of distinctive watch face designs for my HONOR MagicWatch 2.
Currently, watch faces of various styles and themes are already available for download in a dedicated section on the Health app, so I can easily find one that matches my outfit, or reflects my mood. Third-party designs are also under development, giving me access to creative works from up-and-coming developers.
Strangely enough, since I'd hardly have thought so beforehand, another thing that I love about the HONOR MagicWatch 2 is its magnetic charging design. The charger is easy to use, and incredibly portable.
It's also fitted with a Type-C port, so I can simply use the same cable that I charge my phone with, to avoid the hassle of carrying around multiple cables.
When the watch is about 2 cm from the charger, they're automatically drawn together.
I previously had a Watch Magic, and loved using it. But the look and feel of HONOR MagicWatch 2 is just different…and amazing! I still have to try out all of the features on it over the course of next few weeks, to provide a more comprehensive review, especially for all of the smart fitness and health features. But even if they don't live up to their billing, I'll still wear the watch around a lot, because the stunning design is worth the price of admission on its own!
