NFC is nothing short of a revolution. If you do not yet know what it is, you are missing out. Get on board now – this article tells you how.
NFC is a technology that has really taken off. It enables you to make payments quickly and easily using your mobile phone. No cash, no cards, just the device that you carry with you anyway. It is so easy that millions upon millions of people across the world are now using this very efficient system.
The way it works is this: inside your HONOR NFC enabled mobile phone, there is a secure chip. The software that interfaces with that chip allows a payment provider to attach to it and sit in standby. When you want to pay for something in the real world, you look out to see if the point of sale in the shop has a contactless payment terminal. If so, and providing the purchase is within whatever limits your provider sets, you can pay just by bringing your phone up to the payment terminal. The two communicate and the successful payment is confirmed to the retailer. The money will then be debited from your account with your payment provider.
The whole process is almost instant, and so easy that a child could do it. What's more, it's a lot easier than having to mess about going to the bank to get cash, then handing it over and waiting for change. It has become so successful that, in major international cities such as London, contactless payments are now preferred by many people.
Not only that, but it can also be used for other things, too. Want to transfer files with the same speedy advantages? No problem. Send an important file to a business colleague, or an amazing photo to a buddy. Either way, it is simple with NFC.
Public transport becomes a lot quicker, too, because you can load a transportation card onto your phone and use NFC when you board a bus, for example.
So, how do you get in on the NFC act?
Firstly, you need to check whether your HONOR mobile phone is compatible with NFC. By way of example, here are four that are: the HONOR 10, View 10, 8 Pro and Play are all NFC ready.
2. Get a new SIM
You may need to obtain an NFC enabled SIM card from your network provider and insert it in SIM Slot 1. Contact them to find out if you need to do this.
3. Switch NFC on
If you want to make payments, or perhaps use a transportation card, you'll need to go to settings. From there, touch 'Device connection' and choose 'NFC' and 'On'.
4. Get a payment provider
From here, you will need to register with a payment provider. That could be your network provider, or it may be an independent provider or your bank. Contact them for details on how to do this. You will need to download their app.
5. Transfer files
Back in Settings, you can enable file transfers by touching 'Device connection' > 'NFC' and enabling 'NFC' and 'Huawei Beam'. You will then be able to share files by touching 'Share' and 'Huawei Beam'.
