Recently, the latest in-house manufacturer flagship SoC – the HiSilicon Kirin 980 has been announced. How is the performance of Kirin 980 compared with Snapdragon 945, which was released December 2017? Although Kirin 980 won’t be in any retail devices of HONOR until next month at the earliest, we still would like to share with you the initial testing results which were revealed upon the press conference.

The architecture of the Kirin 980 has eight cores: two are for so-called turbo performance, two are for long-term performance, and the last and smallest four are used to maximize power efficiency when not much is going on.
And the Kirin 980 has many “firsts”, it is the world's first 7nm process mobile phone SoC chipset, the world’s first one built around ARM’s Cortex-A76 CPU and Mali-G76 GPU, the world’s first dual NPU design, and the world’s first chipset to support LTE Cat.21, the first chip to support 2,133MHz LPDDR4X RAM.
