Braving 1000 Degree Temperatures at the "Door to Hell" with the Honor View10
Just last month, the testing team at zol.com, a Chinese tech site, took the Honor View10, the iPhone X, and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S to Turkmenistan to challenge the extreme temperatures at the "Door to Hell".
Situated in the deserts of central Turkmenistan and otherwise known as the Darvaza gas crater, the Door to Hell is a raging pit of fire that has burned continuously for 44 years. Needless to say, the temperatures here are frighteningly high.
On the way to this destination, the team got to experience the almost alien Turkmenistani landscape, with desert stretching out for what seems like thousands of miles on either side of the road. Wanting to capture the sights, members of the team each took out their phones at various points, but found that not every phone could capture images of the same quality. From the photos below, you can see that the picture taken by the Honor View10, whether comparing image saturation, brightness, or sharpness, is far beyond the offerings from the iPhone X or Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S. This is even more apparent in the photo of the camel. In the picture taken by the Honor View10, the camel is absolutely brought to life, with even individual hairs being clearly distinguishable. The iPhone and Mi pictures are slightly blurry in comparison, failing to capture the camel in as vivid a way.
A big factor behind the Honor View10's exceptional photography is that it comes fitted with the Kirin 970 chipset and its dedicated neural processing unit (NPU), capable of processing vast numbers of AI operations. Compared to a CPU or GPU, the Honor View10's NPU has roughly 25 times the performance with 1/50th of the power consumption, allowing images to be processed at lightning speed. Supported by its NPU, the Honor View10 can distinguish between a total of 13 different photo-taking scenarios, from snapping food, to flowers, to blue skies, to your cat, and then tweaking the parameters of the image to match the situation. With the ability to achieve the optimal photographic effect for the situation, anyone can snap pictures like a pro.
Meanwhile, in the desert, the limited telecommunication facilities posed the frequent risk of losing contact with the outside world. This was something that the team was quite concerned about. Just as they were about to enter the heart of the desert, the testers noticed that the iPhone X and Mi MIX 2S had lost their signal, while the Honor View10 not only had signal, but could still receive WeChat messages (meaning stable Internet access). The team's worries of getting stranded in the desert were laid to rest. The Honor View10 became the whole team's only link with the outside world, as its reliability of connection is plain to see.
Finally, the team of testers reached the Door to Hell and began the much anticipated "hell test". Put inside a testing box, the Honor View10 was gradually lowered into the interior of the inferno. Naturally, the temperature recorded inside the box began to climb. Amazingly, as the temperature reached 95°C, the Honor View10's camera was still operating as normal, photographing the Door to Hell from the inside. Seeing the flames up close through the Honor View10's pictures marked its successful passing of the challenge!
In this expedition to the Door to Hell, the Honor View10's powerful AI functionality and build quality capable of high temperature resistance really came to the fore. With such remarkable performance and quality combined, you might just be feeling tempted.
